Course content
Basic principles of equilibrium and non-equilibrium thermodynamics. Principles of molecular physics and kinetic theory of substances, changes of quantities in the ideal and real gases. Entropy, thermodynamic potentials. Phase transition. Low temperature physics. Transport phenomena in gases and liquids. Atmospheric thermodynamics and elementary meteorology.

  • Preparation for formative assessments (2-20) - 4 hours per semester

professional knowledge
The knowledge of secondary school thermodynamics is assumed. The students should be able to employ operations and methods of mathematical physics (approximately at the level of the subjects MAMEF, MPF2M and MPF3S).
learning outcomes
The students will understand the basic principles of equilibrium and non-equilibrium thermodynamics, they will get oriented in molecular physics, theory of transport phenomena, and other areas connected with the subject matter.
