Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to: familiarize students with branches of trade, tourism and services; inform them about importance of these branches in both national and world economy; explain trade and tourism trends in the Czech Republic and in the world; describe branch structure of trade and tourism; inform students about actual trends in trade and tourism with help of actual data and practical findings.
Student is able to: - describe key indicators which characterize the position of trade and tourism services in a national economy - understand and explain contribution of the sector to national economy and main trends in development of trade and tourism services - describe activities in retail and wholesale and trade structure including contradictory phenomenons - explain strategies of different retail unit types (formats) - identify specific position of multinational trade companies and small-and-medium-sized enterprises including consumer cooperatives - define main objectives of purchasing and marketing co-operations and franchising in trade and services

- importance, position and development of trade - definition of trade activities and services - business environment in trade and services - development of Czech trade after 1989 - trade structure and performance - trends in retail development - typology of retail - co-operation in trade - problems of retail from the perspective of the European Commission and the requirements for an integrated internal market of the EU - tourism and its components - development of tourism and its impact on economy - tourism services - tourism destinations - business ethics

Examination form: written test (including closed questions). Evaluation: 88-100 % A (1), 74-87 % B (2), 60-73 % C (3), 59 and less % D (4)
