Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to: convey regional aspect of tourism as a part of whole branch of tourism; provide basic knowledge of attractiveness and conditions of tourism in the Czech Republic, Europe and in the world; convey methods of selected region analysis from the point of view of tourism geography; describe the attractiveness of tourism regions and give practical examples; describe tourism zoning of the Czech Republic; characterize and on examples demonstrate the importance of tourism for regions; characterize types of tourism from the point of view of regions; identify and explain streams of tourism in the Czech Republic and in the world; practically show the key aspects of tourism geography during an exkursion.
Student is able to: - Characterize impacts of tourism on a region. - Identify various tourism attractions. - Summarize zoning of tourism in the Czech Republic. - Give practical examples related to particular course themes. - Apply acquired knowledge and methods on an example of a particular destination when working individually. - Observe, analyse, distinguish and explain observed phenomena both during lessons and in the case of fieldwork. - Identify and explain tourism flows in the Czech Republic and worldwide.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of: basic historical development of tourism in the Czech Republic and in the world, terminology of tourism, basic coherence tourism branch; ability to use ČSN 690 and 690-2 norms (quotations) in accord to Faculty of economics standards (University of West Bohemia)

Course content
- Geography of tourism, the role of tourism in the world economy and in the science disciplines. - Location factors and requirements of tourism. - Selective and carrying factors and premises of tourism. - Natural, cultural-historical, social, sport and recreational and other tourism attractions. - Leisure time and tourism, leisure time behaviour. - Regional economic, social, cultural and environmental impacts of tourism development in an area - Typology of destinations and resorts, spatial organization of tourism. - Source areas and flows of visitors in tourism. - International tourism - geography of tourism according to UNWTO. - Regional geography of tourism in Europe and in the Czech Republic. Materials for each topic are during the semester available on Courseware, or in LMS Unifor. There are, if need be, specified further links for study sources. Verifying of students´ knowledge is based on those materials.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Portfolio

Student gains the credit by achieving determined amount of points. These points are obtained by fulfilling various activities during lessons which reflect the content of lectures and current situation. Activities may vary from oral to written form including presentations of outcomes. Activities are rated. To get the credit, at least 70 % of maximum possible points must be acquired. Students are informed about the system of collecting points during the first lesson. Regular deadline for submitting the last activity is the last day of instruction in the semester. In case of not reaching the 70% level of available points for activities, the student will receive special activities, only one remake of a activity is possible, deadline for submitting the remade activity is the end of the third week of examination period of the semester. The final examination form is written and at least 70 % of possible points must be collected. Classification of student's knowledge: - unsatisfactory: 0-69 % of possible written test points - good: 70-79 % of possible written test points - very good: 80-89 % of possible written test points - excellent: 90-100 % of possible written test points
