Course content
he course is intended to give students a good insight into the following areas: mechanisms, basic facts; spur, bevel, worm gears; motion screws and nuts; chain drives; friction and belt drives; gears, basic facts. During the seminars students practice gearbox design and perform computations for typical gearboxes, both in the traditional manner and with the aid of computers; results are tested and verified in the laboratory. The aim of the course is to teach students how to graphically describe machine components according to technical standards (technical drawing), give information about dimensioning and tolerances prescribed by the component features (GPS - Geometrical Product Specification), give information about technical standards and design documentation. The aim of the course is to equip students information about machine parts and their groups in relation to the parameters describing their properties and design documentation. To introduce students to the fundamentals of design thinking, methods and tactics used in engineering design. To introduce students the area of designing small machine part groups through the examples showing the possible consequences of poor design and teach students to prevent fatal consequences of these errors.
