Course content
- Introduction to studies of regional economy and policy - Sources of data and information about regional economy - Basic methods and techniques of regional economy research - Localization of economic activities, localization factors - Neoclassical, behavioral and structuralist approach to theory of localization - Spatial attractiveness and competition, spatial structure, agglomeration and urbanization effects, economic-political importance of external effects, optimal size of a city - Theory of urban land use (positional rent), settlement structure and city system, Central place theory - Phase model of city development (agglomerations) - Regional development, classical theory of regional development (export base, neoclassical theory, polarization theory) - Theories of regional development based on innovations and knowledge - Regional policy, its subjects and tools - Regional policy strategy - Regional policy in the Czech Republic and in the European Union - Regional finances as a part of public finances. Regional budgets. - Urban and Regional planning (Spatial planning)
