Course content
I. Introduction to Economic geography - key concepts, perspectives and direction of research, economy and space II. Patterns of Economic Development - history of world economy; the unevenness of economic development; the economic structure of countries and regions; international division of labour; core and periphery III. Globalization and Economic Development - new international division of labour; new technology system and innovations; global consumer markets; geography of economic globalization (global assembly lines and supply chains, flexible production) IV. Agriculture in the contemporary world - agricultural geography; natural and social factors in agriculture; agricultural practices; agricultural regions; V. Innovations in agriculture - development of agriculture; agricultural revolutions; subsistence and commercial agriculture; agricultural industrialization; Green revolution; biotechnology; genetically modified organisms VI. Suistainable agriculture - agriculture and population growth; growth of urban farming; suistainable agriculture; the environment and agricultural industrialization VII. Geography of industry - the industrial revolution; distribution of industrial activities; situation factors in industrial location VIII. Resources and industry - mining of energetic resources; production of electric power IX. Changing distribution of selected industry - steel production, auto production X. Changing distribution of selected industry - semiconductor industry; chemical industry; textile and apparel production

Identify the determinants of distribution of agricultural and industrial production in the world as well as its regional consequences. Explain the relations of distribution of agricultural and industrial production between the global distribution and regional characteristics of the territory.
