Course content
3. This course consists of these issues: Characteristics of West Bohemia and its genesis. Natural conditions - georelief, climate, hydrosphere, pedosphere, biosphere. Natural landscapes. Social and economic geography of West Bohemia. Natural resources. Population, demographic characteristics. Ethnicity. The economy - the territorial structure. Settlements, urbanization, urbanized areas. Regenerative components - recreation, tourism, spa, environment. Socio-economic sub-regions in West Bohemia. Euroregions. Preliminary overview of topics of particular lectures: ? Fundamental geographical characterization of the region ? Natural conditions of the region - specifics of the geological structure and hydrology ? Population and its history ? Transformation of industry; brownfields ? Labour Market ? Border regions specifics - cross-border cooperation ? Natural specifics of Šumava ? National minorities
