Course content
This course consists of these items: Introduction to the study - an overview of approaches to the regionalization of the world. Overview of general and regional literature. Geological structure of continents. The theory of plate tectonics. Overview of the evolution of the world. Morphometry of continents. Fundamentals of the regional oceanography. Evolution of the oceans. Comparative characteristics of the oceans. Horizontal and vertical zonation of the World. Regional examples of biomes and orobiomes. Geological structure of Asia. Regional overview of tectonically active regions. Physic-geographical regionalization of Asia. Oceania - geographical regionalization, typology of the islands, natural hazards. Climatic zones and hydrological conditions on the example of Australia. Specific of physical geography of Africa, hydrological conditions. Definition and characteristics of natural landscapes of South America. An overview of physical geography of Andes, Central America and Caribic. Geological and geomorphological evolution and regional survey of North America. Specific of physical geography of Europe. Geological and geomorphological evolution, climatic conditions, geobioms. Comparative characteristics of Antarctica and Arctic region.
