Course content
1. Basic information about location of the Czech Republic and its status in the World and the EU. 2. Natural characteristics of the Czech Republic. 3. Administrative structure of the Czech Republic. 4. Population of the Czech Republic, changes in population; settlements. 5. Overall characterization of Czech economy. 6. Primary economic sector (agriculture, forestry). 7. Secondary economic sector (mining, industry, energy). 8. Terciary economic sector (transportation, tourism). 9. Regions of the Czech Republic and their competitiveness.

Lecture supplemented with a discussion, Individual study, Seminar
  • Contact hours - 26 hours per semester
  • Practical training (number of hours) - 13 hours per semester
  • Preparation for comprehensive test (10-40) - 20 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report in a foreign language) (10-15) - 15 hours per semester

Students have an overview about the location, nature, population, settlement, and economy of the Czech Republic. He/She is able to explain relations among these characteristics at the level of Czech regions. Based on the complex knowledge, student is able to explain the relations between the distribution of particular economic activities in the Czech Republic. Student knows the sources of available statistical data about the Czech Republic and he/she is able to process, analyze these data and deduce results.

Student is able to analyse and evaluate both qualitative and quantitative data and reach a scholarly conclusion.
