Course content
1. Introduction into the theory of systems, basic terms, basic operations LS (Librarian System). 2. Solicitation of librarian stock ? books, serials, electronical informative sources. The methods of getting the documents. 3. Entering manipulation, reception and evidence of the documents. 4. Content and physical screening of the librarian stock. Revision. 5. The review of Czech and foreign LS. General theses of evaluation of LS. The trends in the progress of LS. 7. Lanius and Clavius. 8. KP WIN. ARL. 9. Aleph. The upper-grade implements over LS ? Melitab, SFX. 10. T series. 11. Grant systems for the libraries. Preparation of the projects. 12. Collected catalogues ? theory, the review of czech and foreign LS. 13. Final colloguium.

learning outcomes
Students will be able to summarize and explain basic knowledge about building of the library stock in classical and also in automated library systems. They will earn the review of the progress of automatization in Czech republic and also in other parts of world and some of the most important systems will be presented to them. They will explore the function of the library as the system of acquiring and processing information.
