Course content
A reading and interpretation of representative texts of ancient philosophy from the archaic period to the end of antiquity. Each semester a different text of the given period is chosen and attended. A problem of translations, means, doxographical methods and contemporary interpretations is engaged as well.

  • Preparation for formative assessments (2-20) - 20 hours per semester
  • Preparation for comprehensive test (10-40) - 32 hours per semester

learning outcomes
Students amplify their knowledge of factual written records of ancient philosophy and their content layer. Students gain a better insight into problems of ancient philosophy as a whole. Knowledge of original sources allows them to distinguish and to comprehend many links between philosophical systems of the given era.
