Course content
Problems of relation between Eastern and Western thought in literature; reflexion of traditional Chinese thought in works of certain British and American scientists; specifics of Eastern thought (with the emphasis on Chinese thought) and its difference from European thought; influence of particular Eastern systems of thought on development of science; scientific and non-scientific rationality in Russell´s and Whitehead´s works and their relation to Chinese thought.

learning outcomes
Passing the course enables to obtain the basic insight into the problems of Chinese philosophy, scientific thought and knowledge and its specifics in contrast to the West. Student is able to describe opinions of various European thinkers on Chinese philosophy and scientific thought, to evaluate them, to deduce the relation between the specifics of Chinese thought and results of Chinese science and knowledge in the comparison with European attitude towards science, its results and goals.
