Course content
- History of monotheism - Religion of ancient Israel - Temple cult - Priests - Prophets - Kings - Babylon exile and origin of judaism - History and principles of Judaism - Synagogue - Religious and spiritual traditions of Judaism. Branches of Judaism. Jewish sects and religious movements. - Rituals - Torah, Talmud, Kabala

learning outcomes
The student will be able to: - Utilize the correct terminology of religious studies, biblistics, and hebraistics. - Explain the meaning of the most important Hebrew words, related to Jewish spiritual life (Torah, Talmud, Kabala, Mishna, Gemara) and utilizes them in correct context. - Differ between oral and written Torah. - Identify the main intellectual streams of Judaism and name their most important personalities and works. - Evaluate the impact of particular historical events on the religious history of Judaism.
