Course content
1. Modern Islam and its role in daily life of Middle Eastern contemporaries. 2. Explanation on reform tendencies of the end of the 19th and whole 20th century and their protagonists. Ideologies of Arab and other Muslim countries (India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and other regions of Muslim ummah.

The student will be able to: - Evaluate the role of islam and its political variants for historical development of Middle East and its inhabitants during the 19th and 20th century. - Name the most important movements and their representatives. Identify sources of inspiration and evaluate its importance for later development.
