Course content
1. Paediatrics and its share in the societal care for the child. Interdisciplinary cooperation. Healthy child development: Distribution of childhood growth and development of the child, the principles of a healthy lifestyle, nutrition. 2. Prevention in childhood immunization schedule, child as a patient examination, patient psychology child's pain management. 3. Physiology and Pathology of the newborn. Basic concepts, the first treatment of the newborn, congenital malformations general classification newborns, birth asphyxia, prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, infection of the newborn, birth injury, bleeding fetus and newborn, newborn jaundice. 4th respiratory diseases. Allergic diseases, allergic rhinitis, asthma. Imunoalterační disease. Fifth circulatory system diseases: Congenital and acquired heart disease, arrhythmias, hypertension. Diseases of the blood malignancies in children. 6th diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract. Congenital defects of metabolism. 7th diseases of the digestive tract. Diabetes mellitus. 8th diseases of the endocrine glands. Diseases of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems. 9th infection. Skin diseases. Mental disorders in childhood and adolescence. Abused child, social pediatrics. 10th Urgent conditions in pediatrics, poisoning and injuries in childhood. Basic techniques in first aid and resuscitation care by age. Sudden infant death syndrome.

learning outcomes
Students are able to understand a conception of nursing in paediatry, to apply nursing procedures to childhood patients. They are able to choose adequate nursing procedures according to age, condition of child. They are able to recognize urgent condition, apply procedures in first pre-hospital aid.
