Course content
1. Research and science in health care - characteristics of research in healthcare, research organization in the CR, research, the direction of research in healthcare. 2. Scientific approach and human cognition - the scientific approach, basic concept in scientific approach, sources of human knowledge (tradition, experience, tests and errors, scientific thinking), ethical aspects of scientific work in healthcare. 3. Information sources - evidence of based medicine, sources- electronic x printed, primary x secondary abstracts, research, ISO 690 citations, impact factor. 4.Methods of scientific work - pre-research phase (exploration, piloting, pretest), basic methods of scientific work (observation, description, comparison, experimentation), basic logical processes (analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction). 5. Techniques of data collection 1 - observation, experiment, study of documents. 6. Techniques of data collection 2 - a questionnaire survey, scales, interview, case report. 7. Project preparation - preparatory phase, hypotheses, outline of a project. 8. Written research report - structure of a report, publishing of research results. 9. Introduction to statistics - basic statistical concepts and goals, statistical data processing, principles for the compilation tables and graphs.

learning outcomes
A graduate will be able to elaborate a a scientific journal article into a scientific journal, to work with information sources, to set hypotheses and formulate main research problems. He/she will be able to apply bases of statistical data analysis.
