Course content
The object of microbiology. Characteristics of bacteria. Forms and manifestations of infection. Spreading of infection. Epidemiological measures. Defence against infection - a brief survey. Antibiotics and chemotherapeutics. Medically relevant gram+ cocci. Medically relevant gram- cocci., gram+ rods. Medically relevant gram- rods I.

learning outcomes
The students will be able to: describe particular medically relevant strains of bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi; clarify the pathogenic effect on the human; describe the possibilities of their direct and indirect laboratory diagnostics; assess the possibilities of their antimicrobial treatment.
