Course content
Lectures: 1. Epidemiology, epidemiologial methods. 2. Characteristics of epidemic process. 3. Principles of fight against infectious diseases. 4. Disinfection and sterilization. 5. Nosocomial infection. 6. Epidemiology of non-infectious diseases. 7. Basics of microbiology - sampling and transport of biological material. 8. Basics of microbiology - cultivation and determination of clear cultures. 9. Basics of virologic investigative methods. 10. Pathogenicity and virulence. 11. Hygiene requirements for medical facilities. Seminars: 1. Working principles in a focus of epidemics. 2. Disinfection. Disinfective agents in common life. 3. Sterilization in common life. 4. Act No. 195/2005 Collection. 5. Nosocomial infections. Investigation. 6. Analysis of alimentary and respiratory emidemics. 7. Analysis of selected nosocomial epidemics. 8. Analysis of epidemics of virus hepatitis and dermatological infections. 9. Sampling of individual kinds of material necessary for microbiological investigation. 10.Microbiological cultivation and determination of clear cultures in a laboratory. 11.Hygiene requirements in medical facilities.

learning outcomes
A graduate is able to analyse mechanisms of transmission of infectious diseases, characteristics and prevention of infectious diseases. He/she is able to master hygiene requirements in medical facilities, to acquire a survey of basics of medical microbiology.
