Course content
1. Contrast agents - positive and negative used in radiodiagnostics, characteristics of each group. 2. Adverse toxic and allergic reactions after administration of contrast material, prevention of adverse effects, principles of treatment. 3. Contrast invasive examination. 4. Contrasting non-invasive examination 5. Physics of radioactivity. The most frequently used radionuclides, their properties, examples of application. 6. Preparation of radionuclides in a reactor, cyclotron, theory. Description of a reactor, cyclotron, other accelerators. 7. Radiopharmaceuticals, types, acquisition, generators. Methods for preparation of radioactive compounds. Kits for preparation of radiopharmaceuticals, how to prepare at the workplace. Requirements for production and testing. SPECT radiopharmaceuticals for individual examination. 8. PET radiopharmaceuticals theory. Production, testing. Resulting image using cameras. The most common PET pharmaceuticals and areas where they are used.

  • Contact hours - 8 hours per semester
