Course content
1.-2. Description and definition of aquatic ecosystems. 3.-5. Aquatic communities, their needs and relevance to aquatic ecosystems. 6.-8. Eutrophic effect on aquatic ecosystems and its impact on water quality. 9.-11. Hygienic significance of aquatic ecosystems - risks affecting human health. 12.-13. Legislation in the field water. 14.-15. Classification of water, requirements for water quality, indicators for water assessing. Seminars: Excursion to the drinking water works. Excursion to aquatic ecosystem, description of water sampling and explanations of significance of individual indicators.

  • Preparation for comprehensive test (10-40) - 23 hours per semester

learning outcomes
A graduate will be familiar with basic functions of aquatic ecosystems, options of their utilization and effects, methods of water sampling, laboratory analysis and evaluation of basic indicators of water quality.
