Course content
Lectures: 1. General Introduction - Definition of gerontology, geriatrics, old age, aging, age division. 2. Characteristics of the senior population, the principles of healthy aging. 3. Body signs of aging and mental signs of aging, adaptation, biological and psychological age. 4th pathophysiological changes in old age, the risk geriatric patients, geriatric syndromes. 5. Specific features of diseases and clinical traits in old age, polymorbidity. Pharmacotherapy in old age. 6. Principles of communication with geriatric patients. 7. Health and social services for seniors in the country. 8. The system of palliative care for the elderly in the country. 9. Strategy patient care Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. 10th Strategies care of patients with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Exercises: 1. Introduction. Entering seminary work. Specifics of nursing care in geriatrics. 2nd Excursion Hospice sv. Lazarus in Pilsen. 3. Nursing care for the elderly in an emergency care. 4. Excursion Senior residence terraces. 5th Dying and death, palliative care for the elderly. 6. Presentation of seminar papers students. 7. Presentation of seminar papers students. 8. Presentation of seminar papers students. 9. Presentation of seminar papers students. 10th Evaluation of the subject credit.
