Course content
Selected papers will refer to the political system of the Russian federation, political parties, international organizations, international security, political geography and the specifics of Russian politics. Distribution of power, power organs, the Russian parliament - State Duma and the Federation Council, the President, political parties in Russia, structure of Russian government, Russian constitution, world powers, Russian foreign policy, relations of Russia and the EU, situation in the Post-Soviet republics. Improvement and consolidation of knowledge of Russian grammar based on examined texts. Students will familiarize with language used in academic texts (dissertation, thesis, conference paper).

  • Undergraduate study programme term essay (20-40) - 40 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report in a foreign language) (10-15) - 15 hours per semester

Russian language level B2 (SERR) is required.
learning outcomes
Graduates will be able to speak about current political events in Russian. They will understand and react properly on written as well as spoken language. They will have detailed knowledge of the political system of the Russian federation. Students will be able to use Russian academic and publicistic texts to gain information about political events in Russia.
