Course content
1. Introduction, oveview of topics, methods and requirements, discussion on key terms, critical thinking, fundamental values, process, dialogue 2. Global problems (classification and characteristic) 3. Theoretical approaches (realism, liberalism, critical approaches, modernization vs. dependence theory, modernity vs. postmodernity) 4. Counterpart of globalization - fragmentarization: Thrid Way, Asian way, solidarity of the shaken, right-wing extremism, religious fundamentalism, nationalism, identity 5. Economic globalization: patterns of global trade and investment: integration vs. exclusion, expansion vs. involution, Financialization, global postfordism, information societa and new economy, flexibility and new methods of management, neoliberal domination 6. Social globalization and information society (education, access to technologies, global media) 7. Political globalization: Democratization vs. Illiberality and input/choiceless/formal democracy, democratic deficit, crisis of efficacity, lemitimacy and identity, reduction of state to police district, instrumentalization, Geopolitics and its reneissance 8. Globalization of security: terrorism and development, new aspects of security vs. military power, human security 9. Ecological globalization: ecologists and globalization, limits to growth vs. echno-optimism 10. USA: global hegemon 11. Position of Asia in globalization processes: economic success and strong states; position of Sub-Saharan Africa 12. Position of Latin America: post-development experiments, neoliberalism and its failure in practice 13. Near East: refusing modern development and Islamic threat, democracy vs. Islamic traditions in politics

learning outcomes
After passing the course, students will by familiar with various definitions of globalization and with the issue of environmental, cultural or economic globalization. Students will be able to: - identify position of great powers and regions in the global order - analyze main advantagesm problems and risks of global age - understand principles of globalization and postmodernity and compare to compare them with modernity
