Course content
1. Introduction, definitions, paradigms of EU integration process 2. Foundation of EU, legal basis 3. Communitarian law, EU law 4. EU institutions - Council of EU, European Council, Commission 5. EU institutions - EP, European Court of Justice and other bodies 6. Four fundamental freedoms, common market, economy and monetary union 7. Structural policy, agricultural policy 8. Common Foreign and Security Policy, European Security and Defence Policy, Police and Judicial Co-operation in Criminal Matters 9. EU enlargement 10. Member States´participation in EU activities, foreign relations 11. The Czech Republic and EU 12. Current issues of EU integration, future of EU

learning outcomes
Students will acquire basic information on the origin, development and institutionaô structure of European Union. They will describe and explain the operation of EU bodies within particular common and coordinated policies. They will understand the relation between EU activities and the situation in Member States.
