Course content
1. Theories of region, new regionalism 2. Western, Eastern and Central Europe 3. Concept of regional state 4. Transnational political regions in Europe 5. Transboundary political regions in Europe 6. Selected intrastate regions in Europe 7. Selected historic regions in Europe 8. Europen cultural (linguistic, religious etc.) regions 9. European economic regions 10. Regional political parties in Europe 11. Multi-level governance in Europe

professional knowledge
Students have knowledge of European geography at the level of KAP/GEO1 and KAP/GEO2 and the knowledge of European integration processes at the level of KAP/VEI and KAP/EU.
learning outcomes
After passing the course, students will be able to explain and differentiate among various definitions of regions (political-geographical, political, economic, cultural, social etc.), they will be familiar with major examples of particular types of European regions and the question of the relationship between EU and regions. They will apply their knowledge on the regional policy of the EU.
