Course content
The course provides definitions of "literature" and the "text", and covers the basic genres, e.g., the novel, poem, play. Further themes: the periodization and classification of literature; the employment of secondary sources.

learning outcomes
Students are capable of - using literary-critical terminology - describing the rhetorical and thematic aspects of a literary text - applying findings regarding the poetics of a literary text in their interpretations - analysing and interpret literary texts of all genres
