Course content
Students of this course improve their language skills, mainly in the area of grammar structures, so that they are able to use them without difficulty in various situations. They acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the usage of the grammar discussed. The course focuses on the tense system, the passive, the causative and modal verbs.

získat znalosti odborné terminologie z oblasti anglické morfosyntaxe;
popsat temporální systém určitých slovesných tvarů v angličtině;
definovat morfologické kategorie slovesa v angličtině;
adekvátně používat slovesné časy;
formulovat hlavní typologické rozdíly mezi angličtinou a češtinou se zvláštním zřetelem na temporální systém.
professional skills
aplikovat teoretické poznatky o temporálním systému v angličtině v ústním a písemném projevu;
adekvátně použít odbornou terminologii k základnímu teoretickému popisu gramatických jevů;
adekvátně demonstrovat znalost modálních sloves v písemném a ústním projevu;
interpretovat hlavní rozdíly mezi anglickým a českým temporálním systémem;
zdůvodnit použití jednotlivých slovesných forem a časů v angličtině.

Students will be able to: - identify, explain and especially apply verb tenses correctly in both verbal and written performances, - apply modal verbs in both written and verbal performances accordingly, - explain the term causative and apply it correctly, - explain the diffrence between active and passive voices and use the passive voice correctly in both verbal and written performances, - apply theoretical knowledge of the aforementioned phenomena in both verbal and written performances.
