Course content
This course consists of these items: 1.Fundamentals of GIS and its use. 2.The use of GIS in secondary schools (software, projects). 3.Data Sources for Secondary Schools. 4.Map servers and their utilization. 5.Creating thematic maps. 6.Questioning and solving spatial issues. 7.Building geographic database. 8.Geographical analysis through GIS. 9.Use of GIS for walks and teaching in the field. 10.Use of Google Earth in teaching regional geography.

To pass the course students are expected to have basic knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS): geo-data, types of geo-data, geo-data retrieval and geo-data processing. Furthermore, students are expected to have basic knowledge of cartography
learning outcomes
Students are able to use geographic information systems (GIS) for teaching at a high school through thematic maps, query, spatial analysis and geographic databases. They learn to use the map servers on the Internet and the Google Earth program. Furthermore, they are able to use GIS for teaching in the field.
