Key learning outcomes Graduates demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of advanced mathematical theories and the relevant scientific methods, with respect to the modern approach to teaching secondary school mathematics. They are capable of defining, analyzing, discussing and solving problems that arise in pure and applied mathematics, and consequently are able to convert these problems through an appropriate simplification into the educational process. They demonstrate the same knowledge also in their second studied subject and know how to find relations and connections with other contexts, not only within their approbation. Graduates have knowledge of English at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (selected training courses may be completed in English). Graduates possess the appropriate specialized skills that are necessary to enable them to work as secondary school teachers of mathematics + the second subject at the high-quality professional level with required methodological and didactic knowledge. Students will be provided during their study also with advanced knowledge of pedagogy, psychology and other related disciplines. Furthermore, students acquire primary teaching skills during a short- and long-term teaching practice which is a part of their study. Graduates are well prepared also for teaching at higher vocational schools. Graduates are able to create the professional and methodological documents; to interpret material rigorously and consistent with respect to the auditorium; to use efficiently information and communication technology; team work; plane, enter, organize and analyze projects; evaluate the results of their own work and others' work; write, present and orally defend a major project (diploma thesis). Graduates are also prepared for the need to maintain their expertise, competence and skills to the current level by means of continuous lifelong learning. A special skill of graduates is the ability to communicate scientific knowledge to students of secondary (or higher vocational) schools.

Profile of the programme This study programme is designed as an academic one. It consists of blocks of theoretical courses dealing with the field mathematical analysis and the theory of differential equations, discrete mathematics and graph theory coding theory, numerical mathematics and computer modeling, geometrical modeling, probability theory and statistics, financial and actuarial mathematics, econometry. The graduates will be able to participate in basic and applied research, work in analytical groups and in the academic sphere, including a subsequent doctoral study, or in the middle and upper management of enterprises, local governments, consulting companies and agencies, in positions of personal management. Graduates of the master degree course Mathematics Teaching at Secondary Schools are equipped with basic knowledge, skills and competencies that are necessary for the work of mathematics teachers at different types of secondary schools and higher vocational schools.
