Key learning outcomes Undergraduates demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic mathematical techniques (in calculus and analysis, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, probability and statistics, numerical methods), fundamentals of economy and financial mathematics (macro- and micro-economics, financial and actuarial mathematics) and fundamentals of information technologies and cybernetics (knowledge of computers and programming, fundamentals of cybernetics, financial informatics and analysis, basic system modelling). Undergraduates are further able to use intermediate mathematics and statistics tools, in particular, are able to apply and use mathematical principles and practices in applications of economic and financial models. Undergraduates have lower-intermediate English language knowledge (min. Level B1 of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Undergraduates are able to construct elementary proofs within formal mathematical systems and models; analyze organizations and occupational groups; create and analyze a intermediate statistics and market research; use commercial as well as free open software packages for simulation and linear mathematical optimization; critically evaluate economic data and identify any problems affecting the further processing of mathematical statistics; formulate financial models for real examples in the field of microeconomics and macroeconomics; proposes procedures for estimating parameters of models and thus formulated with suitably chosen parameters of the software model to estimate and interpret. Undergraduates are able to individually produce documents with mathematical content; use computer algebra packages; implement simple mathematical algorithms in advanced programming languages such as Matlab; formulate statistical hypotheses and test these hypotheses eg, in program R; communicate mathematics in a clear, concise and rigorous manner appropriate to the context; operate in teams in order to plan, execute, report and present a mathematically based project; write and orally present and defend a major project (bachelor thesis).

Profile of the programme This study programme is designed as an academic one. It consists of blocks of theoretical courses dealing with the field of analysis, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, probability and statistics, geometry, numerical methods and fundamentals of information technologies. At the same time, it comprises a blocks of courses focusing on exploiting theoretical background in practice. Undergraduates have sufficient skills to applytheir gained knowledge to solving mathematically formulated problems of engineering and scientific kind and problems from economics and management. This study programme is designed to equip the future graduate with theoretical background and skills necessary for study in a follow-up Master?s study programme Mathematics. In addition, after successfully completing this study programme, the graduate can apply for positions in various fields, such as an economic and financial analysts, in consultancy firms operating in the fields of economics and financial services.
