Key learning outcomes Each postgraduate will significantly deepen their knowledge in a chosen discipline of mathematics. Furthermore, he/she possesses the opportunity to address either issues of school mathematics, or to continue working in the field of mathematics itself, eventually to deal with topics from the history and philosophy of mathematics. His/her knowledge of mathematics and related disciplines is at a such level that he/she is able to work in a chosen field independently and in a creative and innovative scientific way. Postgraduates have knowledge of English at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (selected training courses can be passed in English, e.g. during short- or long-term stays at a partner university abroad). Postgraduates have the appropriate specialized skills that are necessary to enable them to make their own research and work on individual research projects. According to their specialization, they are focusing on new directions in a certain discipline of mathematics, or in mathematics education, in methodology and educational psychology, in educational policy, and in historical and philosophical aspects of mathematics and education. Postgraduates are able to search and to solve technical problems in the theory and practice, are able to design, implement and enforce the new procedures, evaluate it critically; in the case of didactics specialization they can create mathematical models of education and contribute to the development of the theory of teaching mathematics as a scientific discipline. Each postgraduate will learn the skills to plan and conduct independent research activity, develop the project, formulate the objectives of such projects and explore the theoretical and experimental methods to solve them. Postgraduates know how to describe, orally present and defend senior research projects (e.g. PhD thesis) at the international level and are fully prepared to work in international research teams. Each postgraduate is prepared to respect the principles of research ethics, and continuously develop their expertise, competence and skills.

Profile of the programme Graduates demonstrate deep knowledge of advanced mathematical techniques in the fields of nonlinear differential equations, in the research of mathematical models on time scales, in the study of bifurcation of solutions in nonlinear systems, in the development of new methods for describing complex shaped objects, in the optimalization of the choice of models of random variables in the theory of life and regression analysis, in the study of the properties of discrete structures and graph operators, in the numerical analysis of problems in biomechanics, or in mathematics education, in methodology and educational psychology, and in historical and philosophical aspects of mathematics and education. Graduates will find job in applied and basic research, in management of analysis groups and in the academic environment. Graduates will be able to work creatively in a chosen field in scientific and academic institutions and in the department of mathematics at some university.
