Course content
Week 1 Introduction. Communicative activities. Week 2 French film production. Week 3 21st century adventures. Expressing success and failure. Week 4 Present conjunctive (subjonctif) - form and use. Expressing will, obligation and feelings. Week 5 Conjunctive. Expressing fear, encouraging. Week 6 Sport - analysing newspaper articles. Civilisation: The French and sports. Week 7 Progress test. The French and housework. Week 8 Expressing ownership. Indefinite dependent and indepent pronouns. Week 9 Expressing trust and distrust. Week 10 ´Dissatisfied France´ - social issues in France. Civilisation: extract from a film dealing with social issues. Week 11 Revision. Week 12 Final test. Week 13 Correcting final test.

Students can: - use direct and indirect object correctly; - express hypothesis, polite request, suggestion and advice; - tell a joke or a story; - have a conversation related to celebrations and feasts; - understand simple recipes.
learning outcomes
Students can: - correctly use present conjuctive after expressions of will, feelings and obligation; - have a conversation about daily routine; - understand more complicated texts in newspapers on familiar topics, e.g. sport; - express their opinion on events from everyday life; - talk about social conditions in France and in the Czech Republic.
