Course content
1. Introduction. Communicative activities. "Can you adopt yourself?": vocabulary and test. 2. Revision of articles in French. Position of French adjectives in a French sentence: exceptions. 3. Unpleasant situations: expressing asking for something, insisting on something, refusing something. Saying "no". Working with an excerpt from Jean-Paula Duboise´s novel. 4. Dealing with an impolite person. Character. Meeting exceptional people, exceptional situations: telling a story in past tense. 5. Past tenses in telling a story. Situations in the past: time expressions, verbs. 6. My photos and memories. My dreams. 7. Considering. Midterm test. 8. Considering and quotations. Working with texts. Debates: starting and chairing debates. 9. Expressing needs and will. 10. Project: choosing and establishing associations. Project: getting information and getting your argumentation ready. 11. Project: explaining its formation and development of a problem. Writing a petition. Organizing a debate. 12. Summary and revision. Final test. 13. Test correction and explanation. Evaluation.

Students can: - describe and explain reasons and consequences of some phenomena or situations; - speak about and describe plans related their personal life and career; - ask for information regarding their rights, ask for permission; - understand shorter texts in newspapers and on Internet regarding current affairs, city life or particular region; - understand notices related to their rights and duties; - write a letter of request and complaint.
learning outcomes
Student can: - understand simple radio broadcastings related to topics that they are familiar with; - understand simple longer newspaper and Internet articles related to common topics; - understand article excerpts from fiction; - write formal letters; - communicate via blogs in French - to comment on photos and stories, and to add their own comments; - invoke a discussion, introduce a problem, give arguments.
