Course content
1. Introduction. Communicative activities. Across tenses: grammar review. 2. Across moods: revision of verbal moods. Interrogative and demonstrative pronouns: dependent and independent. 3. Comparison: quality and quantity. Expressing opinion: conjunctive vs. Indicative. 4. Vocabulary related to money. Civilisation: French and money. Vocabulary related to jobs. Expressing intensity. 5. Verb constructions with and without prepositions. Expressing contrasts and responsibility. Civilisation: insurance. Car accidents. 6. Advertisement. Midterm test. 7. Vocabulary related to catastrophes. Passive voice. Expressing interest and indifference. Changes in time expressions related to the moment of speech. 8. Obituary. Civilisation: Information sources. 9. Mysterious stories. Vocabulary related to secret. Constructions with ´dont´. Conjunctive vs. Indicative expressing doubts, certainty. 10. Vocabulary related to myth. Expressing promises, assurance. 11. Vocabulary related to visual arts. Arts and its secrets: working with texts. 12. Revision. Credit test. 13. Test correction. Evaluation. Communicative activities.

Students can: - understand instructions and advice related to learning, etc.; - make a conversation related to topics regarding primarily Czech and French feasts, customs and habits, sports, food and cuisine; - express their opinion related to some information; - write a formal and informal letter using appropriate phrases.
learning outcomes
Student can: - understand the main information from short newspaper articles; - retell events that they read in newspapers, using appropriate tense context; - describe an object or a piece of art in a simple written form; - use correctly grammar structures to express degree of probability, certainty, or doubt; - narrate an event from everyday life, express their attitude to particular situation - to defend themselves or somebody else, accuse somebody of something and express responsibility; - express their opinion on somebody or something; - ask for information regarding background of events.
