Course content
1. Introduction. Communicative activities. Conjugacy class 1, conjugating basic irregular verbs. Gender. 2. Basic phrases. Greetings. French alphabet. Questions. 3. General subject. Articles. Conjugation of selected irregular verbs. How to ask for something. 4. What are the French like? Leisure activities. 5. Near future. Conjugation of selected irregular verbs. Suggesting, accepting, and refusing. 6. Invitations and inviting. Midterm test. 7. Perfect: introduction. Perfect: in detail. Time and dates. 8. Diary. Daily routine activities, time. 9. Travelling. Comparaison. Demonstrative and possessive dependent pronouns.Questions. Answers, explanations. 10. Travelling in France. Enjoy your meal! Food and menu. 11. Possessions and belongings. Exclusive restaurants. 12. French habits: eating. Revision. Credit test. 13. Test correction. Evaluation.

Students can: - understand the teacher when giving instructions, explanations, or assessing him/her; - communicate in a simple manner in basic everyday situations - say hallo, introduce themselves, arrange a meeting, ask and give information about the time, thank, make an excuse, ask for basic information at the railway station or airport; - understand the main points of descriptions of different people in simple newspaper articles or on the Internet; - understand notices and signs indicating a place; - understand the main information related to travelling and trips in a conversation or an article; - accept or refuse an invitation orally and in a written form; - fill in a form with personal details (e.g. in a hotel); - write a postcard with a brief description of a journey or a trip.
