Course content
1. Basic notions. Entrance test. 2. Combining scanning and skimming. 3. Purpose of the text and the appropriate reading technique. 4. Prediction of text content as part of reading technique. 5. Using dictionnaries and handbooks. 6. Kinds of texts. 7. Text cohesion. 8. Language registers. 9. Reading press. 10. Reading e-mails. 11. Reading fiction. 12. Credit test. 13. Evaluation.

  • Contact hours - 26 hours per semester
  • Preparation for formative assessments (2-20) - 10 hours per semester

Students can: understand texts at the level B1, i.e. they can identify important information in written materials of everyday use (such as letters, brochures, short official documents) and understand their meaning identify the main conclusions in clearly organized argumentation texts
