Course content
1. Basic notions. Entrance test. 2. Reading for information. 3. Scanning. 4. Reading for details. 5. Skimming. 6. Reading for pleasure. 7. Prediction of text content. 8. Guessing word meaning; word formation, semantic fields. 9. Guessing sentence meaning and sense, reformulations. 10. Defining the text purpose. 11. Summary of major information. 12. Credit test. 13. Evaluation.

  • Contact hours - 26 hours per semester
  • Preparation for formative assessments (2-20) - 10 hours per semester

Students can understand texts at least at the A2 level, i.e. they can identify particular information in simple printed materials and understand public notices or signs

Students can: - skim a longer text and scan a text for information - find and gather important information from different parts of text to accomplish a task - identify the line of argumentation in a way a question is presented although not in detail
