Course content
1. Unit 1, What is the job?: Present Simple, question, requests and orders 2. Unit 2, Is that correct?: spelling phone number/addresses, measurements, metric/imperial conversions, decimal numbers 3. Unit 3, What are the numbers?: planning a project, future tense, comparative and superlative adjectives, countable and uncountable nouns 4. Unit 4, How does it work?: verbs expressing possibility, expressing cause and effect 5. Unit 5, What happened?: Past Simple, irregular verbs 6. Unit 6, Can you fix it?: troubleshooting, repairs, Present Continuous 7. Unit 7, I need some information: Wh - questions, reading large numbers 8. Unit 8, What should we do?: modal verbs, explaining rules, identifying faults, damage AEL3 e-learnin 9. Unit 9, Take care: safety precautions/safety rules, verbs should, shouldn?t, could, adjectives, adverbs 10. Unit 10, What is it like?: shapes, describing shapes, pronunciation of difficult words: triangle/triangular 11. revision 12. final test 13. test analysis, credits AEL3 e-learning programme is available on moodle.zcu.cz.

Students can: - suggest a simple problem solution - express order and prohibition simply - tell and ask about the presence of people and objects - express action in progress and extraordinary actions - provide information on functions of devices and give simple working instructions - write a short user manual - express past actions and events - describe common defects simply - express various numeric data (decimal numbers, fractions, percents) and basic mathematical operations
learning outcomes
Students can: - use simple grammatical structures correctly, - answer questions about duties, tasks and functions at a workplace, - describe a simple problem, - understand and pass a short message (e.g. extention number, price, quantity) on the phone, - understand facts and information concerning routine work situation in a text, - understand and give simple instructions.
